The Eighth Day of CNY

Let’s talk about today.

According to Chinese Lunar calendar, today happens to be the eighth day of Chinese New Year. Hokkienist would celebrate the day in a grand style in conjunction with the birthday of the Goddess in their belief.

Coincidently, today is also the single most important date of my existence--I was brought to this world on this very day some decades ago…No brownie points for getting my real age though, so don’t bother guessing…

As oppose to my own expectations for a special day like today, the day went down real plain and less-than-eventful, but nonetheless, memorable.

Maybe it has got something to do with all those magnificent view of grand scale fireworks courtesy of generous devotees during the praying ritual, but most of all, I think it must have something to do with the most kind and warm attention I was receiving from my companion during that breakfast session late this morning.

As if it was not good enough for them to foot the bill, they were so determined on getting me a birthday cake, even though their stomachs were really full and can hardly move a muscle after downing that heavy load of breakfast.

And despite my reluctance, we finally settled on a small slice of Chocolate cake, plus an impromptu version of birthday song being sung by them with everyone around us watching.

I know this may not be much of a big deal to most people, but it was soooo very nice to be feeling appreciated and being cared for, especially on a candle-blowing occasion like this which I didn’t get to have since don’t-know-when.

Who would pay attention to a weirdo like me anyway?

Well…they just did.

Thanks for being such a sweet darlings who actually put in effort to make me feel good about myself.

Zillions hugs and kisses…

…To You, You and You.

CHEERS!
